goodcry Reflects on Healthcare in ‘Operate’

‘Operate’ shows its card from the first few seconds. An edgy lo-fi house beat embraces fuzzy and distorted vocals, making for highly modern and leftfield sonic material. We are hooked from the beginning, but that’s just how goodcry operates. Championing artistic eclecticism and strong authenticity, the Californian creative has made a name for himself, exploring neighbouring genres with charisma and expertise.

‘Operate’ is exactly that: the result of musical research. Gritty synthetisers join the track, making it a decisively club-orientated banger. Melodic sections alternate to more icy and repetitive moments, never boring the listeners. Lyrically, that’s where the single also flourishes, offering a reflective view of the modern health industry through a curious but respectful lens.

On a mission to release a track per month, goodcry seems motivated to keep the momentum going, and frankly, we think he’ll be successful at it. Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, he explains: “It questions the normality of hospital care and a medical model that prioritizes pharmaceutical intervention over prevention”.
