Girl Group STARLINGS Return with ‘Kalopsia’

It’s been a while since we got the chance to review a vocal group; perhaps not such a common feature today, the format still works if done well. Take for instance STARLINGS, runner-up girl collective with a knack for bright R&B stylings and hyperpop flavourings. ‘Kalopsia’ is the project’s latest effort, a slice of vocal elegance and euphoric lollipop character, wrapping the listeners around an experience that’s relatable and rewarding, especially when looking at its meaningful lyricism.

Based in the UK, STARLINGS is a developing group, as we are told. Comprising Pixie (Member P), Kd (Member K), Gaby (Member G), Lou (Member L) and Fa1th (Member O), the group plans to add two more members, building their venture into a blend of pop prowess and bold, colourful visual value.

Lyrically, ‘Kalopsia’ focuses on the duality of our reality, when things can often appear better than they truly are. The title conveys this very same idea. As STARLINGS explain: “It helps to express the frustrations of living in a grey reality whilst dreaming of a euphoric success, telling us how a stippled ceiling can look like a sky full of stars as their delusions and manifestations of their dreams grow stronger.”
