Georgia Weber Shares Nuanced and Soothing Piece ‘Kintsugi’

Upon hearing ‘Kintsugi’, the listener can’t help but feel hypnotised. Wrapped in Georgia Weber’s fragile and meaningful artistry, the track moves slowly and with charisma through soothing instrumentation and light textures, employing organic beats and a strongly acoustic outlook as a contour for Weber’s evocative and soothing vocals. The first of three Japanese-inspired singles anticipating her upcoming EP, ‘Big in Japan’, the record signals a period of newly-found creative inspiration for the Australian musician and composer, now resident in the US.

Elaborating on Japanese aesthetics, Weber seeks to connect with her Aussie roots, channelling all the eclecticism and influences she was able to absorb in her musical journey. ‘Kintsugi’ is exactly that, a mellow and enlightened exploration of Western musical stylings filtered through an Asian-inspired sonic background.

Delving on the inspiration behind the piece, Weber explains: “My love for the aesthetics of Japan shines through in ‘Kintsugi’, a term referring to the art of repairing broken pottery with gold or silver lacquer, embracing flaws as part of an object’s history.”
