There’s no better way to close a glorious year than an EP – Genevieve Miles knows it well. Having previously featured ‘Tough Love’, a gem we described as a “highly evocative and cinematic anthem”, we are honoured to now be able to share ‘So heavy, so hard to hold’ with our audience. The record expands Miles’ soothing and ethereal sonic universe featuring six tracks boasting incredible poignancy and personal lyricism.
‘Beer In The Fridge’ functions as lead single, a window into Genevieve’s internal dialogues and self-reflection. Wrapped in a gentle acoustic guitar, the song benefits from a tapestry of string-like textures and nuanced atmospheres. Miles’ honest and fragile vocals connect directly with the listeners, providing a sonic experience that’s cathartic and meaningful.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the EP, she explains: “They’ve been there for me as little gems of hope. They are about all the pain we carry around that feels too heavy for anyone else to hold, that often feels too scary to hold ourselves. I’m so proud that in moments of pain, my 20-year-old self could find words.”
