There’s something special in ‘Gene & The Strings’: an expansive and eclectic album, the record invites the listeners to reckon with Gene Pritsker’s all-encompassing compositional style, delving into the many nuances that characterize it. Focusing on strings sections, the American producer exhibits a flair for fast-paced, dynamic motifs, often with a keen eye for experiments and unconventional solutions.
What’s notable is the addition of two R&B tracks: the album contains episodes such as ‘Losing All Hope’ and ‘Loss Occupied Pt. 2’, fully moving into modern and dynamic territories. What’s more, Gene Pritsker is also a talented rapper, showcasing his wide-open approach to music. A healthy amount of electronic elements can also be observed from time to time.
The album features performances by violinists Lara St. John and Machiko Ozawa, The Kahlo and CompCord String Quartets classical guitarists William Anderson and Warren Nicholson, as well as an array of the finest string musicians. Speaking about his works, Pritsker explains: “My music is extremely eclectic, for me music has no bounds – I view the world of music as one big genre. My motto for my art is ‘ending the segregation of sound vibration.”
