We wrote about Fury of a Dying Planet’s debut effort not long ago, describing ‘Bloodied Fjords’ as “fast-paced rock matter, fuzzy distortion and raucous and fierce vocals, urging everyone to take action now”. Two things were very clear to us at the time: first, this London-based group can play! They are all extremely good musicians. Second, there’s an underlying passion for social commentary and environmental issues.
‘Captive’ confirms it all. Fury of a Dying Planet’s latest effort, the record shifts the attention towards animal testing, a harrowing practice that’s still carried out to this day. The lyricism is as hard-hitting and thought-provoking as you’d expect from the project. Its sonic counterpart is equally expressive, embarking on a metal and alt-rock-flavoured anthem which feels electrifying and intense.
Doug Remington, the group’s head honcho, has been working with the Humane Society International and other charities, putting together a graphic lyric video to accompany the single – viewer discretion is strongly advised as it contains distressing scenes!
