Late last year, I stumbled across French-based musician Frank Rabeyrolles‘ gorgeous little tune called ‘Even Space’. The track appears on Frank’s brand new album ‘Boat Songs’, and I am proud to give you now a small rundown of the whole album. ‘Merry Go Round’ gets things underway, and it’s really just incredible. Warm, intimate, soothing, brilliant. And Frank’s vocals…oh my!
‘Raining Sand’ follows ‘Merry Go Round’, and it’s another moving and emotive song from an exceptionally talented artist. It’s hypnotic and enormously captivating, holding your attention for the full duration. ‘Fear of Happiness’ follows a similar pattern to its predecessors, but don’t be fooled, it’s another tune with a life and a sound all of its own.
Rabeyrolles has described ‘Boat Songs’ as “an indie pop, Lo-fi, folk album with a DIY touch”. I couldn’t have put it better myself! What I particularly love is the way the album just flows. Every song placement seems to have been carefully considered and reviewed. A testament to a true musician.
‘Boat Songs’, in my humble opinion, is one of the best albums I’ve heard so far this year. Ten tracks that are each as good as the next one. Thank you, Frank!
