Franc Moody Are on a Roll, with New Album + Upcoming Tour

Ned Franc and Jon Moody are perhaps better known by their stage name, the playful Franc Moody. Boasting millions and millions of streams on Spotify alone, the British pair has built a cult following thanks to their hypnotising blend of disco, funk and electronica, all drenched in a heightened sense of whimsical and quirkiness. They are, honestly, quite irresistible, and one never knows where they might land next, in aural terms.

Recently, Franc Moody have released their latest album, ‘Chewing The Fat’, alongside a wonderful music video for ‘Square Pegs in Round Holes’. Furthermore, they are about to embark on a UK and EU tour this April – more details on their website, linked below.

‘Square Pegs in Round Holes’ certainly captures our attention, with the creative duo having mastered the art of minimalism – or as someone would put it, the ‘less is better’ concept. The track never takes on more than it can chew, instead making the most of curated and intimate sound design. It’s still very much the Franc Moody we have always known, just wiser and more elegant.

Speaking about the music video, director Thompson-Roylance explains: “This video is a celebration and study of motion. Inspired by Eadweard Muybridge’s iconic early motion picture projection work, I wanted to contemporise his exploration through the use of the VHS feedback loop. It’s not often that you receive a brief where everything falls into place so well. A simple concept with top performers is worth its weight in gold.”
