FOX GUNN Deals with Tough Breakup in Fierce Anthem ‘POTTERY’

Frankly, we couldn’t stop listening to ‘POTTERY’. There’s a highly hypnotising quality in the record, further enhanced by the stunning and witty music video. Once the song starts, the listener is kidnapped into FOX GUNN’s fierce and proud artistry, blending forward-thinking electronica with empowering and relatable lyricism, here championing a tough look at a breakup, declined through the project’s proud queer aesthetic.

Written and produced by FOX with the additional help of Balthazard (Marco Ciocca) and Jon LeKole, ‘POTTERY’ is a majestic artistic statement, also signalling the start of a journey that we are confident will bring GUNN to a wider audience. How could it not be? Her music is just incredible. The project’s ability to layer poppy songwriting over dark, haunting and complex sonic material is particularly relevant: it tells us there’s a lot of research behind it, likely stemming from the creative universe that’s flourishing from FOX GUNN’s enlightened musical prowess.

Describing the process behind the song’s lyricism, GUNN explains: “I started writing ‘POTTERY’ a month after getting my heart broken by the person I had been writing about for years, my muse – but also someone who always made me feel like I was too emotional, too vulnerable, like I felt too many things; so I had made myself weak and small. It was only after the break-up that I realised being vulnerable in a world where it is seen as a weakness, is badass.”
