‘Streams of Thought’ is a seven-minute odyssey courtesy of New York-based progressive metal act Forever in Transit. Multi-instrumentalist Dan Sciolino leads the band, and on their brand new single, the talented foursome concocts a masterful, intricate, and powerful piece of music. Fusing melodic and progressive metal elements with ethereal stretches of ambience, ‘Streams of Thought’ takes inspiration from the likes of Dream Theater, Haken, and Pain of Salvation.
Exploring the complexities and frustrations we face in the quest for life’s answers and inner peace, the tune is profound and deeply thought-provoking. As Sciolino explains, “It can take countless attempts or approaches and sometimes we arrive more lost than we began, losing ourselves in the rabbit hole of the psyche”.
With a driving backbeat and layered polyrhythms, ‘Streams of Thought’ builds to a stunning crescendo that highlights the outfit’s technical prowess. An absolute epic from start to finish, it’s a track that has left me spellbound, immersed in a whirlwind of musical virtuosity.
The song will form part of Forever in Transit’s forthcoming album ‘A Coming to Terms’, scheduled for release on the 13th of September. I simply cannot wait for the record. I’ve discovered a band that could become a true personal favourite, and it doesn’t get much better than that!
