‘Did You Want Me to Love You?’ is the brand new single courtesy of Philadelphia-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Francis Convery, better known by his moniker of Fonvery. It’s also the perfect little ditty to round off the week and head into the weekend with a smile on your face!
Lyrically inspired by the awkward dialogue from the movie Juno, ‘Did You Want Me to Love You?’ beautifully captures the butterflies-in-your-stomach feeling of a first encounter with a potential partner. Fusing breezy and cheerful instrumentals with lyrics of jittery anticipation, Fonvery has concocted a tune that resonates with the vibrant energy of budding love.
Inspired by the likes of Steve Lacy, Alex G, Mac DeMarco, and Alvvays, Fonvery crafts a sound filled with hope and joy. It’s upbeat, infectious, and deeply imbued with a sense of sincerity and authenticity.
“When I create music, I like to use my limitations as a strength,” says the artist. “I call it ‘making something out of nothing'”.
Since releasing his debut back in 2018, Fonvery has built up an impressive discography, and I think I’ll be diving in this weekend to lose myself in his sonic landscapes.
