Fond Of Rudy Explore Early Relationships in ‘22’

We were lucky enough to feature Fond Of Rudy earlier this summer; writing about their comeback single ‘How Do I Delete You’, we proudly declared it a “euphoric and emotional slice of anthemic indie pop”. We stand by our words: the British outfit seems to enjoy delving into contemporary eclectic stylings, bathing in poignancy and relatability. ‘22’ is further confirmation of that; Fond Of Rudy’s latest single, the track expands the group’s pop appeal and catchy character, echoing the likes of The 1975, among others.

Built on a charming bed of groovy guitars and a blend of electronic and organic drums, ‘22’ feels slick, kaleidoscopic and energetic, especially in its dancy outlook. Fond Of Rudy’s lead vocals fit their role perfectly, never overpowering the instrumental picture but rather adding to it, while delivering nuanced lyricism that’s bound to connect even with the most apathetic of listeners.

Exploring the uncertainty of young love, ‘22’ aims to shine a light on all mistakes and misunderstandings that early relationships are likely to cause, provisioning a poignant source of reflection and an occasion for learning and self-growth.
