Float Away to shemona’s Ambient New Single ‘i drink underwater’

Samantha Goldman is a New York-based singer/songwriter, producer, composer, and self-confessed worshiper of analog synths. You may know them as the brains behind Ariel Gold, but they now return with a second solo project in the form of shemona. Released only a few days ago, ‘i drink underwater’ is the artist’s brand new single, and it’s a dreamy, ambient, and ethereal little number that takes you someplace else for two and a half minutes. Packed with intricate and euphoric synths intertwined with delicately layered and sometimes spoken word vocals of Goldman, the tune immerses you in an otherworldly soundscape of beauty and tranquillity.

Not content with being just a musician, Samantha also opened for a Yoko Ono exhibition called ‘The Riverbed’ a few years ago. Whether creating abstract and spiralling spoken word pieces, or large-scale paintings and sculptures, the artistic vision of shemona simply defies conventional limits.

‘i drink underwater’ is one of the most entrancing and mesmerising tracks that I’ve heard so far this year. I’m not entirely comfortable placing in it a box, genre-wise, and you know those are the types of songs that normally get me pretty excited. Here’s to many more from the unbelievably talented shemona!

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘i drink underwater’ on Spotify now:
