Showcasing an intoxicating, uplifting and catchy hip-hop flair, Last Funk are as eclectic as their name suggests. Balanced between rap, acid jazz and funk, the Italian group borrows the best elements from each genre and inspiration, ending up with a quirky, yet relatable artistic formula that’s as groovy as the group’s name suggests. If you are listening to Last Funk, chances are that won’t be the last Funk you hear.
‘Let The Groove’ is the project’s latest effort, a charming and vibrant hip-hop anthem rooted in tradition, GFunk and early-rap stylings. We could describe them as Grandmaster Flash meets Incognito…. Although that might feel like a restrictive comparison. Truth is, ‘Let The Groove’ is the kind of record that needs to be experienced, felt, rather than judged or written about.
Made up of Mark Mc Wonder and Antony White, the Italian group also looks towards disco influences with pride. As they explain: “We are always inspired by the beautiful funky music of the 70s and 80s”.
