I have been listening to music since I can remember: every genre, every artist, every edgy and niche subculture.
I am a great listener: I take pride in discovering unheard gems, trying to connect with their authors.
It never gets old, really… somehow, music keeps hypnotising us, surprising us, always, always offering something new. Must be some sort of magic.
We wrote about AK Patterson back in November, celebrating the haunting, evocative ‘I Don’t Know How To Die’ as “showcasing Patterson’s bright and sapient musical wisdom”. We stand by our words: the London-based singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist appears to have been gifted an impetuous, potent talent for sonic exploration and aural catharsis, penning honest, unique […]
One of the most unique and curious projects we have come across recently, Twin Court appear to have found a never-heard-before sonic formula, blending Javanese gamelan with dream rock and indie elements. They present themselves in a rather fascinating manner: “We’re just children of rock music who happened to get lost in the beautiful, flowing […]
Rebooting her recorded catalogue and following up on her 2023 debut, London-based songstress Julia Jones seems to have gone through a great deal of artistic research and personal growth. The results are here for everyone to admire: ‘What a Shame’ is Jones’ comeback single, a slice of hazy and buoyant alt-pop featuring evocative, elegant vocals. […]
Here at Mesmerized we love to showcase new records from Europe, especially in different languages; our artistic thirst seems to highly benefit from it, allowing us to broaden our cultural horizon. In the case of Greek songstress MƐlia, such benefit is highly informed by mainstream pop elements and sultry R&B vocals, making for a listening […]
Stepping out of one’s comfort zone can be rewarding. Luan Luan knows it well: teaming up with fellow creative Tiiva, they found themselves swimming in hyper-pop, ethereal waters, a perhaps novel experience for the Brighton-based musical voyager, yet one that seems to fit them rather well. Aptly titled ‘A SONG YOU WON’T FORGET’, the record […]
The psych-rock, alternative crowd will rejoice at Grund’s latest effort. Hailing from Sweden, the creative post-rock outfit channels a vast wealth of experimentation and retro influences under their belt, making for a sound that’s familiar yet boundary-pushing, a sonic livery steeped in tradition, but with a modern flair. ‘Tornet’ is all of that: featuring expansive […]
Justin Sconza is back! Following up from last year’s ‘Campfire’, the Chicago-based troubadour now returns with a brand-new LP, ‘Standards’, a vivid, honest and heartwarming slice of soft rock and psych influences. A keen songwriter, Sconza doesn’t hide his passion for nostalgic lyricism and personal reflections, taking hints from life as a whole and translating […]
moonweather is a rather interesting example of how music-making is often a long-standing effort. It grows with the humans behind it, mirroring the ups and downs of life itself. Sometimes, a break is needed. Yet, worthy creatives always find their way back. That’s exactly the case for the Cincinnati-based alt-folk/indie outfit. Active since their debut […]
We appreciate it when artists are able to not hyper-fixate on a mood, or a style, instead exploring a variety of sources and influences, thus delivering a more eclectic catalogue. Noah Kahlil appears to be en route to do exactly that. This year, the Los Angeles-based troubadour has already released two records, one being the […]
Little Juke made their debut less than a year ago with the haunting, cinematic single ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’. Since then, the group have been the recipient of continuous praise from the likes of Radio X’s John Kennedy and Radio XS, among others. It’s not difficult to see why that happened: Little Juke’s music is […]
Writing about Hawk Björn’s newest offering feels like meeting an old friend after a few months apart. Indeed, we wrote about the Canadian troubadour back in October, celebrating his album ‘Alchemy’ as “the product of generational wisdom, a collection of experiences (painful and positive) accumulated by Björn in his lifetime”. If those sound like pompous […]
There’s no big mystery and no intricate ethos behind ‘Techno Village’. Rather, what we find is pure artistic joy and the nuanced work of two talented people. Setting the goal of writing a techno album, Saniel Woods and SpacePea do exactly that, birthing twelve tracks ranging from atmospheric, liminal anthems to hard-hitting club fillers. Interestingly, […]
