At the beginning of this month, London-based Greek-Irish singer/songwriter FAYYE unleashed a four-track EP entitled ‘Rise’. It’s absolutely beautiful from start to finish – but today I want to focus on the EP’s second tune ‘Different Today’. As a classical concert pianist, it’s unsurprising that the first thing you hear is the most delicate of keys before FAYYE’s angelic and bewitching vocals make their introduction. Peaceful, intoxicating, and majestically pieced together, it’s a dreamy and soothing little song that I can’t get out of my head. Not that I want to!
As far as the inspiration for ‘Different Today’ goes, FAYYE sums it up better than anybody else could. “I wanted to write something to mark that moment at dawn when anything is possible,” she says. “Before the day has decided what it’s going to be”. I just love that!
I’ve fallen rather hard for this alluring and mesmerizing tune. It’s deeply hypnotic and enchanting, and I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the full EP. Released less than two weeks ago, it’s a record that already has over 50,000 plays on Spotify. FAYYE’s music is resonating with listeners and critics, and it’s extremely easy to understand why!
