Fan of Friends? Connect With Bo Weber And His Audacious Latest Gem

When we came across his music, we had never heard of Bo Weber. We flicked through his catalogue, his socials, his website, and it all painted a very golden picture. It looks to us as if Weber is not only a super talented music maker, but also a witty entrepreneur, with a knack for media and design. Boasting a strong DIY aesthetic, he is not afraid of challenges, and he usually wins them. Debuting in 2020, the Minnesota-based creator has been steadily releasing great songs, focusing on a contemporary blend of hip-hop and R’n’B, blessed with his genuine ability to write catchy, word-class melodies.

‘Friends’ is Weber’s latest effort, following up on previous release ‘You’. This is quite a special one, and it is appropriate to say that the American artist showcases some true genius here, not only by publishing what’s an absolute earworm, with a chorus to die for, but also by wrapping it into popular culture, providing a reason for listeners to connect with it. You see, ‘Friends’ is actually inspired by the popular sitcom Friends. It contains endless references to it, but most importantly, the track has a dedicated music video which features bits and bobs from the series, made by Weber himself.

There are two perspectives here, to consider: the first is the marketing value that this great idea gives to the record: immense! We did relate to the song immediately, and we had only watched the video. The second perspective, simpler yet more relevant, is just how good the song is. A near-perfect exercise in pop music.

Featuring fellow singer Amanda Yang, the pair is able to paint intense, heartfelt lyricism, occasionally layering their vocals into a luscious harmonical concoction. Overall, we absolutely love Bo Weber and his music, and we look forward to seeing the young talent become more and more successful.
