It’s interesting to observe creatives collaborating and influencing each other’s work. Take for instance Belgian band Factheory: already boasting a pretty impressive sound, built on haunting guitar and dark, poignant matter, their artistry made a big jump ahead when joining forces with OK Lion!, a fellow Belgian outfit.
Remixing three of Factheory’s singles, ‘The Day’, ‘Got You’ and ‘Souvent’, OK Lion! Showcases a nuanced production knowledge, able to improve and give new light to an already established catalogue without completely changing its nature. That’s not an easy task.
Packed into an EP, called ‘The Day’, the record offers a unique take on Factheory’s music, blending dark-wave, electronica, and dark rock sounds with OK Lion!’s signature style. The standout track is certainly ‘The Day,’ which is featured in both short and long versions.
The remix by OK Lion! takes the piece to new heights, thanks to pulsing synthetisers and haunting melodies that will leave listeners wanting more. ‘Got You’ and ‘Souvent’ (French) also receive the OK Lion! treatment, with their remixes adding an extra layer of complexity and depth to the original compositions.
