Fabio Cicala Shares Cathartic Piece ‘The Words I Didn’t Say’

There are a lot of clichés and pompous terms we could use to describe Cicala’s nuanced compositional output. Perhaps something about the ‘transformative power of music’. Or the way it ‘connects with the listeners in a blissful manner’. The truth is that music is often hard to describe, as it’s a completely different medium than literature. Yet, there’s purpose in diving deeper into Fabio’s artistry, as we approach his latest effort ‘The Words I Didn’t Say’ – out today.

In it, the keen listener will be able to rejoice in the carefully executed piece, performed on a classical guitar (a Cordoba F7 Paco, to be precise). Captured at some of London’s most famous recording digs, such as Abbey Road Studios and Soho Sonic Studios, ‘The Words I Didn’t Say’ takes a highly personal approach, engaging in aural storytelling emerging directly from Cicala’s personal experience.

Building a truly magical, evocative vibe, the single is also catchy, often cascading on repeating motifs and melodic material. It echoes a quirky episode in Fabio’s life, as he so eloquently explains: “The song was born after I got a crush on a girl I met on a film set. Her aura was so powerful, I was nearly dazzled at once, but though there was a mutual fascination, I didn’t allow myself to go any further, as at that time, I was already in a relationship… Actually, I even self-sabotaged most of the interactions with her.”
