Nottingham-based outfit Express Office Portico spent most of last year on the road. From headlining their first tour to playing gigs and festivals all over England, the dreamy synth-pop quintet captured hearts and garnered a loyal following with their infectious melodies and captivating presence.
Just under two weeks ago, the band released a tune called ‘No One’ – their first single of the new year. It’s incredible! It’s easily one of the dreamiest and most intoxicating songs I’ve heard recently, and it just worms its way into your very soul. Richly layered and expertly pieced together, there’s a funky soulfulness going on that sets Express Office Portico apart from the mainstream. It’s innovative…and deeply immersive!
“‘No One’ encapsulates the feeling of initial recovery from past trauma which can leave you feeling like a deer in the headlights,” says the act. “What is seen as healthy and stable can feel alien to those who have experienced trauma and chaos for the majority of their lives”.
The track will form part of Express Office Portico’s forthcoming debut EP ‘Incommunicado’, and I get the feeling that 2024 could be a massive year for the band. They’ve got all the tools for success, and there’s no reason why they can’t make a significant impact on the scene.
