ettie Returns with Honest and Unabashed Jewel ‘Last Best Lover’

A familiar face around these parts, London-based artist ettie has already graced us with her pop-punk anthem ‘Miserable Life’ and then a hard-hitting and punchy smash called ‘Marty McFly’. Today, however, I’d like to focus in on ettie’s brand new single ‘Last Best Lover’. Emphatic and unashamed, it’s a tune that sees the musician kicking down doors and telling the world, “Hey, I’m here, this is me, and I’m not going anywhere!”

We’ve previously described ettie’s sound as “deep-rooted emo-nostalgia”, and ‘Last Best Ever’ serves as a prime example of how her music embodies this characterisation. Raw, honest, and familiar, yet somehow also fresh and exciting all at the same time. It brings to mind heavyweights like Avril Lavigne, Blink-182, and Paramore, but with a distinct injection of that “ettie-sound” that only she can deliver.

‘Last Best Lover’ is the artist’s love letter to the girl of her dreams. “I’ve realised that I’m not the girl someone writes love songs about,” she says. “I’m the one writing the love song for the girl”. With her first release of 2024, it’s clear to see why ettie is being hailed as one of the most promising new musicians on the scene!
