ET Sheds Light On Hip-hop And Rap Subgenres With ‘Last Laugh’

Flow, beat, and story. These are core elements of every hip-hop song that cannot be compromised or dismissed. With a melodic and seamless flow, an emotional subject matter that rivals that of emo rap, with snare effects driving a 4/4 rhythm, ET has mastered this musical trinity.

They say “Last Laugh was written to capture the highs and lows of being an independent/underrated music artist.” By bringing us into the mind of a grinder in the music industry, we are able to further appreciate their passion and achievements. The journey is reflected in the initially confident opening lyrics and compound bassline, which fades into a more solitary sound that evokes midnight musing.

ET does not allow themselves to be contained by one genre. ‘Last Laugh’ incorporates lesser-known styles such as emo rap. Monophonic, melodious background vocals accompanying personal lyrics such as “underneath it all just some kids that are broken” imbues the song with that Juice WRLD touch. The track ends on an energetic note with rapper Yung Xiim. Words such as “I get this goat feeling when they mention me”, show that the only way is up for these two.

Having already been featured in a range of media, from radio to blogs, the underground artist is a force to be reckoned with.
