Erin Kaith is an R&B songstress who perhaps needs no introduction. Her soulful debut single ‘Down Bad’ has been played over 25 million times on Spotify! Now, the New York-based Filipino artist returns with a nine-track EP that takes listeners through all the stages of heartbreak. “It’s like a rollercoaster,” says Erin. “Whether you want to stay or go, you see both the good and bad parts.” Inspired by artists like Jhené Aiko, Saweetie, and Gabriella Wilson (better known as H.E.R.,) Kaith has put together an emotional and touching record that soothes the soul and calms the mind.
The short and sweet ‘Let You Go’ begins proceedings. A hip-hop beat meets the sultry vocals of the musician as she sets the tempo and the vibe for what’s to come. ‘Temporary Love’ then follows and we are now fully immersed in Erin’s dreamy, lo-fi soundscape. It’s simply hypnotising!
‘Down Bad’ is the EP’s third tune before we are introduced to ‘See You’, a poignant ballad that focuses on the initial resentment of a scorned lover. At this point, I shall leave the remaining songs for you to discover on your own. It just wouldn’t be right of me to reveal all of Kaith’s secrets. What I will say is that you’re in for a treat!
