A poignant, meaningful and story-focused jewel, ‘Home’ delivers intriguing storytelling and electrifying lyricism, courtesy of Eric Alexandrakis’ inspired artistic flair. A theatrical, almost dramatic record, the track flourishes over an eclectic arrangement balanced over ethnic Greek elements and Western influences. The result is a quirky and unique anthem, crowned by Alexandrakis’ elegant and malleable vocals.
Based in Rethymno, Greece, Eric travelled to Colorado, US, connecting with some of the best local musicians, such as Ryan Hoyle on drums and Paul David Hager on mixing duties. ‘Home’ even features a contribution by John Malkovich. It’s clear that Alexandrakis had a very specific artistic vision in mind, one that transcended geographical borders and pre-defined traditional genres.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the single, he explains: “It’s about leaving the bad stuff behind…sadness…abuse…unhappiness… loneliness…loss…and taking that next big and difficult step towards happiness, and to where you truly belong.”
