Enter Swing from Paris’ Nostalgic Jazz Universe

You might not be aware of them, but Swing from Paris have built a solid career off the back of their eclectic swing/jazz character. Embodying the spirit of a swing ensemble from the 40s and 30s, the British group also features a distinct gypsy quality, especially in their evocative use of acoustic guitars. Violins and a double bass complete a truly authentic sonic picture.

Made up of Fenner Curtis, Andy Bowen, Sam Hughes and Tomasz Williams, the quartet is actually what you might have found in a culturally rich city like Paris back in the day. Taking cues from giants such as Benny Goodman and Django Reinhardt, Swing from Paris pay a loyal homage to tradition while keeping it relatable to our times.

‘I Love Paris’ is the group’s latest effort, a fantastic cover album showcasing all the music prowess they have to offer. About them, we are told: “Without public subsidy, the band have been bringing their Parisian swing to rural village halls across the surrounding counties where access to the arts can be limited.” Not an easy thing to achieve – evidently, Swing from Paris have a longstanding passion for their craft, pushing them further into their artistic journeys.
