Enter a World of Sonic Bliss with Au Revoir Heart

Ethereal and psychedelic, ‘Cheeky and Friends: The Siam Jem Edition’ wraps the listener in malleable and sublime sonic goo, offering a listening experience unlike any other. Built on dreamy and spacious guitars, lo-fi drum grooves and an overall sense of retro energy, the EP is only two tracks long, but that’s enough to grasp Au Revoir Heart‘s enlightened artistry.

‘You’re So (Baby)’ – a cover of Donnie and Joe Emerson’s – opens the record in true indie fashion, offering evocative and reverbed vocals on a bed of slow-paced musical matter. Quite repetitive, in a positive way, the track becomes almost hypnotising, culling the listeners into a trance-like state of admiration. ‘She and Me’ features more vibrant textures, taking the song into a more elegant pop direction. In a way, it reminds us of Swedish duo Morabeza Tobacco. Certainly fresh and edgy stuff.

Crowning it all, we find Dane Mora (the human behind Au Revoir Heart) and Siam Jem’s evocative and pensive vocals, giving the whole EP a rather introspective outlook. ‘Cheeky and Friends: The Siam Jem Edition’ is the first collaborative release of Au Revoir Heart, featuring fellow local musician Siam Jem. A worthy listening experience – be bold and dive into it.
