When a BBC producer says that you are “musically turning grey skies blue”, you just might be on to something sonically special. Please welcome Brighton-based indie artist SABRINA G who, just days ago, unleashed her first single of the year with ‘High Hopes (Blue For You)’. A tune about the timeless and excruciating head vs heart dilemma, ‘High Hopes’ starts off in a silky-smooth and dreamy fashion, with the musician’s breathy and airy vocals making an early introduction. Things stay laidback and mellow before a crunchy chorus comes along that features electric guitar and SABRINA’s signature bass and drums – it’s a little unexpected – but it definitely hits the spot!
Serving as the first single from the artist’s upcoming debut EP ‘Hierarchy’, SABRINA is eager for the world to hear her new material. “I have been working incredibly hard behind the scenes in the studio writing some of my best music yet,” she says.
Looking to the likes of Billie Eilish, FKA twigs, Rosie Lowe, Rachel Chinouriri, and James Blake for inspiration, SABRINA G has created a path and a sound that is solely her own. ‘High Hopes’ is one of the most intriguing and absorbing tracks that I’ve heard all year, and I can’t wait for the release of the musician’s EP!
