Enjoy Groucho’s Gritty Cover of INXS Classic ‘Never Tear Us Apart’

INXS were legendary. I can recall so many of their tunes as the soundtrack to different stages in my life. I mentioned recently that there’s always an inherent risk in pulling off a successful cover song, and the line is a thin one. Once again, however, I have been introduced to a reimagined version of a track that expertly walks that line. Please welcome Tulsa-based alternative rockers Groucho and their raw, gritty, and grungy cover of INXS’ classic ‘Never Tear Us Apart’.

Comprised of Dustin Howard, Royce Buckmaster, and Layne Farmen, Groucho is an act that’s building up a reputation for their engrossing live shows. Having found themselves needing to prolong a gig one night, the band decided to try out their cover of the track, and the rest is history. “We don’t normally do cover songs,” they say. “But we’ve learned to throw one in sometimes as an encore, and this specific song really resonates with crowds”.

Recorded by Grammy Award-winning engineer Trent Bell, Groucho’s version of ‘Never Tear Us Apart’ captures the spirit of the original tune while injecting the act’s distinctive blend of energetic artistry. With a sophomore album on the way, I can’t wait to hear from Groucho again soon!
