Emma Hunter Shares Evocative and Epic Gem ‘Morire’

If we could describe ‘Morire’ in one word, it would be ‘pathos’. Emma Hunter’s latest effort is charged with sensuality and poignancy, delivering a luscious piece that feels solemn, celebrative, yet laidback and soulful. It’s all thanks to Hunter’s evocative and majestic vocals, and her long-time collaborator Tom Bruce’s near-perfect production. Working together, the pair manages to draw the listener into an introspective and intense sonic journey, also sharing a certain cinematic flair.

Conveying a strong spaghetti-western quality, epic and heart-wrenching, ‘Morire’ is a truly worthy listening experience. Perhaps not for everyone, the record will find a fertile audience in the most elegant and educated listeners, the ones that don’t solely settle on commercial fads. Hunter seeks to go deeper, exploring the nuances of her artistry and her unmatched musicianship.

Lyrically, ‘Morire’ focuses on vices, and how they can cause someone to fade away and lose themselves – in fact, ‘Morire’ is the direct Italian translation for ‘to die, to fade’. The music perfectly embodies this emotionally-charged message, truly enhancing the already dark and eerie nature of the single. Notably, the track also features charming mariachi trumpets, played by Steve Preston.
