Slowly releasing her original music over the last few years, Emily Mayne constantly showcases her elegant songwriting and luscious vocals, making us wish for a longer record (spoiler, it’s coming later this year). Debuting in 2019, the London-based talent has followed up with a single last year, ‘Love to be Adored’, and she’s now unveiling her latest effort, ‘Never the Same’, a stunning, emotional ballad that we are confidently declaring Mayne’s best song to date.
Built on a soothing and cinematic piano background, the track slowly grows in intensity, introducing minimal electronic beats and a plethora of ethereal soundscapes, providing the perfect companion for Emily’s dreamy and expressive lyricism, drenched in introspection and human experience.
Echoing monumental stars such as Adele and Gracie Abrams, Emily Mayne seems to have finally found a stylistic dress that fits her, and frankly, her voice is just so good, that it does not need a pompous production around it. ‘Never the Same’ is the perfect match, with its minimal and supporting instrumental, traditional and classy. Speaking about her upcoming EP, Mayne explains: “It touches on feelings of loss, heartbreak and mental health among other things and intends to create a safe space for those who can relate.”
