A project wrapped in a mysterious and liquid identity, Emeye emerges from London with an impressive pop character, showcasing their nuanced songwriting and production flair through a stunning single, ‘Aries’. Built over ethereal tones and a contemporary electronic arrangement, the record is anthemic and catchy, very elegant and measured, yet engaging and euphoric.
Finding themselves at the intersection of Swedish-flavoured EDM and modern pop, Emeye layer acoustic guitars with a healthy amount of samples and bouncy grooves, making for a listening experience that’s familiar, yet quite peculiar too. Usually spotted live wearing a giant disco ball as a mask, the talented creative entity (no one knows their real form) has found an intriguing artistic livery which will certainly help in finding new audiences.
Speaking about the making of ‘Aries’, Emeye explain: “I wrote ‘Aries’ to highlight the beauty of life, and I could only translate this message into music with a lively sound. I had the chance to sample newborn babies and incorporate them as if they were usual instruments (drums, synths, etc). It’s probably one of the most esoteric songs I’ve ever made”.
