Ell Freeman Shares Apology Piece ‘Goodbye Stranger’

A meaningful and expansive record, ‘Goodbye Stranger’ sees London-based amateur musician Ell Freeman delving into a delicate apology to his teenage sons. Asking for forgiveness for not having spent more time with him, Freeman explores rock-powered songwriting with an eclectic and dramatic character, bordering new wave and Britpop stylings. The result is a dynamic piece that well fits the overall lyrical theme.

A neuroscientist by day, Freeman found healing properties in the creative power of music and arts. Fiercely driving his own project – also featuring the self-produced EP ‘A Hard Place’ – Ell seems to have found a formula that works, one that is drenched in the past 30 years of British musical history. ‘Goodbye Stranger’ confirms it, with its eclectic arrangement and fuzzy distortions.

Speaking about the song, Freeman explains: “During lockdown, I became unhealthily hyper-focused on my music projects, ‘Goodbye Stranger’ apologises to my teenage sons for not being more available. The emotive narrative passes through guilt, hope, and redemption.”
