Is there really much more we can say about Edie Yvonne at this point? The fourteen-year-old singer/songwriter from Los Angeles has been on our radar since early this year, and we’ve been privileged to feature some of her songs and interview her too! Now returning with her seventh single of the year, Edie concocts a mysterious and dramatized tale of a fallen friendship in ‘Darkness Bliss’. “It’s a sad and dark story just in time for Halloween,” she says. It’s undoubtedly the most experimental and avant-garde tune that I’ve heard from Yvonne, and it’s still impossible to wrap my head around the fact that she is just fourteen!
Keeping it short and sweet, something that is quickly becoming a trademark of the artist, ‘Darkness Bliss’ clocks in at two minutes and seventeen seconds. What I find remarkable is just how much emotion and depth Edie can pack into a short song. Not just in this case, but look at ‘Queen Bee’ and ‘On Your Mind’ as well. It’s seriously impressive and seldom seen!
The musician is undeniably having a breakout year, with her tracks amassing over 180,000 plays on Spotify. Her music is resonating, deservedly, and we have no doubt that this is just the beginning!
