Missing from our pages for just over a year, British songstress Eden Dawn returns today with her latest effort, ‘Crossroads’, a playful take on an imaginative scenario wrapped in elegant atmospheres and eclectic production. Crafted by Dawn entirely, the single is her first release after having completed studies in music production – safe to say, such an endeavour seems to have been successful, with ‘Crossroads’ finding its strengths in a whimsical, buoyant character, alongside luscious piano chords and poignant soundscapes.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the piece, Eden explains: “This track is funny to me, I wanted it to sound serious, but really the lyrics are about a hypothetical situation where my ex and my partner’s ex would get together. It’s an idea I found funny, and it then inspired me to write this song”. We love the connection between such a creative record and Dawn’s spacious, cathartic vocals, evoking a dream-like universe and wrapping everything into blissful energy.
‘Crossroads’ marks a definite step-up for the Plymouth-based creative, a promising sign of things to come. Overall, we love her sonic identity, often drenched in eclectic dream pop and gaze-esque tones. Eden’s airy and angelic harmonies are the cherry on the cake, gifting listeners a strong slice of escapism and introspective material.
