Eddie Cohn Shares Stripped Back Version of ‘Wave Goodbye’

Introduced by impressive vocal harmonies, ‘Wave Goodbye – Downtown Session’ soon embraces Eddie Cohn’s timeless vocals and acoustic guitar, initiating a nostalgic yet vibrant journey through fierce rock’n’roll and pop stylings, often reminiscent of late 90s anthemic AOR. Genre-identity aside, Cohn maintains the ability to pen intense, heart-shaking old-school bangers, the kind of track you’d play while on a self-reflective session, or during a long drive.

Recorded in a stripped-back setting, on a seemingly delightful homage to MTV Unplugged, ‘Wave Goodbye – Downtown Session’ allows us to fully appreciate Eddie’s vocal tone, incredibly charming and nuanced, and his songwriting prowess. Among catchy melodies, melancholic lines, and relatable lyricism, the record results in an artistic manifesto that strongly props up Cohn and his catalogue.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the track, the LA-based talent explains: “This version was really all about me trying to come up with a way to play this song solo on my acoustic guitar. I typically love to produce the heck out of tracks and add lots of instrumentation and layers and strings and make my songs sound fully produced in a big way, but this song and the production around it was more about stripping it down”.
