It took a while to get the full picture behind Hyde Out’s expansive artistry. This is because it’s not actually a picture, but more of a dynamic horizon: borrowing from a large slice of Western music tradition, the London-based duo crafts relatable, friendly songs with eclectic flair and catchy melodies. We have seen that time and time again, starting from their 2020’s debut album ‘Smoke and Mirrors’.
Now, Hyde Out unveils their latest LP, ‘Moonfactory’, a three-dimensional and evocative record which pleasantly goes back to their softer roots. Leaving hard-hitting rock styling behind, the pair focuses on meaningful storytelling and anthemic choruses, putting together lush guitar tones and powerful keyboards and synths. The result? A collection of wholesome, wisdom-filled material which sounds incredibly high-level.
Over 13 tracks, ‘Moonfactory’ takes us through alt-folk territories (‘Only Words’) onto a fiercer power-pop landscape (‘On your way’), even including big, 80s-inspired ballads (the likes of ‘Another Life’). Comprised of Omar Merlo and Jaka Levstek, Hyde Out seem to be in their best form, and we are confident they’ll gain a sizeable new audience.
