Eclectic Collective Goetia Shares Second Single ‘Sambwich’

It would be easy to apply the ‘modern jazz’ label to Goetia. After all, the Brighton-based collective favours virtuosity and improvisation in their artistic output, with frequent solos and intricate harmonic content. Well, hear us out: while their inspiration might include fellow contemporary giants Ezra Collective, Goetia’s sonic formula is perhaps less elegant and jazz-shaped, instead championing an eclectic and dynamic melting point of genres and stylings.

‘Fusion’ is a term that applies well to the British project. Taking ample cues from funk and soul, Goetia pairs musical prowess with playful, electrifying vocals, exploring the middle earth between jazz and rhythm and blues (in its general, classic meaning). ‘Sambwich’ is the perfect evidence of that: the group’s latest effort, the track follows-up from debut record ‘Panic!’. The script this time around is decisively more uplifting and rowdy, with a strong hip-hop and funk component that positively overwhelms the listeners.

While Goetia is in its infancy, it’s easy to see the band grow into a national phenomenon. Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Sambwich’, they explain: “It encourages embracing life’s joys while standing firm against negativity, embodying both the party spirit and a deeper message of self-empowerment.”
