Playful yet nuanced, ‘Make up Your Mind’ is a slice of meaningful energy, a cathartic, groovy gem that’s as enticing as it is personal. Born out of Echezona’s real-life experiences, the record delves into the overall uncertainty that can sometimes surround a relationship, especially when it comes to making relevant, important decisions. We suspect this is a message that will resonate with a wide audience out there.
Based in Boston, Echezona is not alone in this endeavour, thanks to fellow creative JPRiZM joining the project on production duties. Built on a soulful, afrobeat-flavoured instrumental, ‘Make up Your Mind’ is extremely compelling, hypnotising both the mind and the body. In fact, it would be perfectly natural to dance to it. A unique feature of the piece is its dual language lyrics, sung both in English and Igbo, a language spoken in Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.
Sharing the source of inspiration behind ‘Make up Your Mind’, Echezona explains: “This song is influenced by a woman who had been disinterested in me and was no longer around. Then she came back around and wanted to come back into my life suddenly. While I still had feelings for her, I needed some time to get re-familiarized and re-adjusted to the idea of her being part of my life again. So, I asked her if we could take things slow.”
