We have to say: well done! When first approaching ‘Different Day, Still The Same EP’ we weren’t quite sure what to expect, but the project’s vibrant, synthetic and dreamy stream of musical goodness completely overwhelmed us. Looking at pop music from a nostalgic perspective, Each Confide manages to retain their contemporary character by infusing 80s-flavoured stylings with a modern vocal livery and veiled vaporwave, lo-fi allure.
In that regard, ‘I’ is a perfect entry point to the group’s musical universe. Reminding us of the likes of George Clanton, the track is certainly inspired by retro synth-pop, yet it is executed in a quirky and interesting way, boasting a production that’s insanely cutting-edge. Even the sonic paste itself is peculiar – as if drenched in some sort of modulation.
Title track ‘Different Day, Still The Same’ moves temporarily away from all the aforementioned, finding refuge in emotional electronic pop and catchy vocal hooks. A collection of already-released singles, the EP give us a holistic view of Each Confide’s artistry. And they make a very compelling argument with it.
