E.G. Phillips Releases Mellow Version of ‘The Albatross Song’

Stepping into the mellow version of E.G. Phillips‘ ‘The Albatross Song’, one is greeted with a laidback and contemplative soundscape that instantly intrigues. A chamber folk rendition of the raucous opener from Phillips’ sophomore album ‘At Home At Sea’, this version of ‘The Albatross Song’ is “closer to the song’s protean state when I started messing with the chords to an old cowboy song one Thanksgiving,” shares the San Francisco-based artist.

Deeply entrancing and cinematic, in large part thanks to Phillips’ haunting vocal performance, the reimagination feels like a long-lost ballad drifting in from a fog-covered shore. It’s highly immersive and atmospheric – showcasing a musician whose art continues to live and breathe side by side with him.

The first of a half dozen tunes recorded with Grammy-winning producer and arranger Nahuel Bronzini, (Fantastic Negrito) ‘The Albatross Song (Mellow Like)’ hints at something very exciting. “My music is often described as cinematic in nature so it only seemed natural to have the songs scored as such,” said E.G..

I’ve fallen completely in love with this beautiful piece of music, and I can’t wait to hear what else E.G. has in store!
