Emerging from England, Tranquility Beach are bound to positively impress you. Not only do they boast a pretty peculiar sound, drenched in Folk, Blues and Country vibes. They also champion relevant lyricism, crafting songs that motivate the listeners into being their best selves. Take the duo’s debut single, for instance. Released earlier this month, ‘Only One’ is an environmental anthem, a call for action.
Drawing inspiration from climate change and the rising number of natural catastrophes, ‘Only One’ seeks to reconcile humans and nature. We can coexist together, and we should make an effort for it. As Tranquility Beach explains: “It’s about looking after this beautiful planet and making the space to share it with everything else that lives here”.
On a deeper look, one would not be surprised by the quality of the group’s artistic outlook. After all, they are made up of two talented artists in their own right. Molly Francesca is on vocal duties: the keen reader will remember us featuring her solo project in our publication. She was also hyped by BBC Introducing, among others. Ben Tattersal, on the other hand, showcases himself as an incredible musician, playing a Hawaiian steel lap guitar with a strong Americana attitude.
What more could you want? ‘Only One’ is a joy to listen to. A light and obsessive kick drum provides the rhythmic foundation for the whole track, while Tattersal dances with his guitar, alternating clean, haunting sections to more upfront, distorted resolutions. Francesca’s evocative, charismatic vocals pair with their sonic background perfectly: a match made in heaven.
