Dude Safari Share Intense Gem ‘High In The Clouds’

We have enjoyed listening to ‘High In The Clouds’ a fair bit. With such an intense and hypnotising identity, the track had a strong cathartic effect on us. It’s been easy to let the mind wander, entering nostalgic, melancholic territories while maintaining a hidden sense of mystery and controlled fierceness. You know what, also? Deftones come to mind – their sense of space and fleeting detuned harmonics seem to have dripped through to Dude Safari.

Especially towards the ending, where the last chorus leaves space for hard-hitting and loud riffing action; that’s where we were most attracted to the single. It’s a special offering from the British band, which seems to have found a specific style that suits them very well. It’s peculiar and unique, but still very relatable and rooted in tradition. Most importantly, they can deliver material that’s moving and emotional – not just a stream of instrumental prowess, but holistic records that are meaningful and often unforgettable.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the lyrics, Dude Safari’s Jamie Tipson explains: “It’s a sort of dreamlike song, the lyrics relate to fears, phobias and introverted thinking. The un-attachment from the daily grind. I guess the title of the song itself is a metaphor for dreaming. It sounded better than calling it Counting Sheep anyway.”
