In 2021, Anchorage-based musician Colton Ciufo released his debut single under the moniker of dreamcat and then disappeared. It was a dreamy and atmospheric little number called ‘<3’, and now the artist proudly returns with ‘Fresh Air’, his brand new tune. Leaning into a similar dreamlike and soothing soundscape, it’ll serve as the first single from dreamcat’s long-awaited EP. Produced and written by Colton in the middle of the Alaskan winter, ‘Fresh Air’ is an intricately layered and sonically warm track that, lyrically, sends a message of hope and light for better times. It’s dream pop at its absolute finest and showcases an artist who’s ready and determined to leave his mark!
The inspiration behind dreamcat’s upcoming EP is largely focused on the musician’s journey with sobriety. Having been out of a rehabilitation facility for a couple of months, Colton turned to music as a therapeutic and healing tool.
On a mission to make positive and heartfelt songs that inspire all those who hear them, dreamcat is an artist who I’m totally down with! I love the airy and ethereal textures of what he’s released so far, and if ‘Fresh Air’ is a sign of things to come, count me in for the long run!
