Dotts O’Connor Unveils Delicate Album ‘Sorrow Won’t Find Us’

If you are looking for an eclectic and colourful album, you just found it. ‘Sorrow Won’t Find Us’ is sort of complex, from a sonic standpoint, yet lyrically relatable and personal. Penned by Irish troubadour Dotts O’Connor – also known as the guitarist for Choice-nominated band Come On Live Long and Dirty Dreamer – the record finds its identity in the artist’s vibrant storytelling, delving into past experiences and everyday endeavours.

Such a rich lyricism is then crowned by a rather organic and elegant production, ranging from alt-folk, soulful pieces (such as ‘Tús’) and more acoustic, easy anthems (‘Swim to Me’ comes to mind). ‘Call Me’ is purely guitar and vocals, making sure we can fully appreciate O’Connor’s raw and nuanced vocal tone.

Overall, this is the kind of album that needs to be assimilated with time and patience. There are no catchy pop songs here, but rather a collection of honest and authentic pieces with a delicate character and a sumptuous sonic livery. That’s sort of rare these days, in the era of instant gratification.
