Operating out of Luxembourg, DoosC has been championing an eclectic and enlightened musical harvest for quite some time now. A gifted producer, he’s been transitioning from leftfield territories to world music, collaborating with talented singer Gaya Waska on a series of Latin-flavoured, ethereal offerings, exploring the depth of electronic music and blending cultures into a new, alluring musical package. In particular, the listener will appreciate DoosC and Waska’s latest offering, ‘Ayaymama’. Built over cumbia grooves and dance patterns, the track rejoices from Gaya’s ethereal and otherworldly Spanish vocals, transporting the listeners into an alternative universe – a cultural journey into our deepest consciousness.
The record is the third instalment in the pair’s ethnic-electronic collaboration trilogy, drawing inspiration from a mythical bird found in the Peruvian jungle around the city of Moyobamba. The theme is consistent with previous collaborations ‘Lost in Sigiriya’ and ‘The Bight of Benin’, all bolstering the duo’s ethos, a passionate and informed look at ethnomusicology.
Describing the motivation behind ‘Ayaymama’, DoosC and Wasa explain: “This track will take you on a journey to South America, in the jungle near Moyobamba (first city founded by the Spaniards in the Peruvian jungle).”
