Dom Malin Returns with Fierce Anthem ‘Surface’

The past year has been an exciting time for Dom Malin. The British singer-songwriter has been sharing a plethora of singles that have frankly worked well in its favour, growing his fanbase and raising the profile of the project. It’s well-deserved: Malin is not only a gifted lyricist, an explorer of human fragility – he’s also a talented musician, a guitarist and singer with a keen eye for sweet and poignant melodies.

‘Surface’ confirms everything declared above. Moving into a slightly fuzzier and band-powered direction, the track is Dom’s latest effort, showcasing newly found fierceness and charisma while keeping the songwriting relatable and authentic. Built over majestic and anthemic indie stylings, ‘Surface’ is beefier than Malin’s previous material, perhaps a sign that he’s growing as an artist.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the record, the Birmingham-based creative explains: “Surface was born from the deep-seated emotions of feeling like an outsider, perpetually on the fringes, trying to belong but feeling left out. It explores the internal struggle of wanting to be a part of something, yearning to be heard, yet often feeling like a ghost—a mere whisper in the roaring crowd.”
