Just four days ago, Philadelphia-based violinist and singer/songwriter Zoe Lemon put out her debut EP in the form of ‘Tailspin’. A ridiculously beautiful and introspective record, I found myself particularly drawn to its last track ‘Split Ends’ which has completely blown me away! As the only tune not recorded during the artist’s “eat-pray-love road trip”, it’s a tune that sees Zoe reflecting on the neverending growth that is constantly happening, even when we don’t see it. “I realised that all that time I thought I was “finding myself” I was really just trying to dodge fate,” says the musician.
Warm drums, a delicate acoustic guitar, and the most emotive violin get ‘Split Ends’ underway before Lemon’s angelic, soothing, and ethereal vocals make their introduction. Mellow and unhurried, the track sways to the beat of its own drum, and creates an immersive listening experience that just sucks you straight in!
I can see ‘Split Ends’ and ‘Tailspin’ being in my life for some time. Zoe has weaved her magic straight into my heart, and I can’t wait to follow her musical journey for many enchanting chapters to come!
