There’s no shortage of rock bands in Albion. In fact, they are probably one of the country’s greatest exports. Although, one might wonder, how can I single out the good ones? Well, we can help with that. For instance, we can tell you that The Underclass are definitely part of the good ones, if not of the very good ones. Emerging from Stoke-On-Trent, the English talents have been surfing the indie music scene since 2018, steadily building a reputation and an audience, mesmerized by their malleable and eclectic brand of guitar-based sonic goodness.
The Underclass had a good couple of years, with recent singles ‘The One’ and ‘Hometown’ reaching a fair number of streams, and festivals and club gigs all around England. Legends in the making? Perhaps. It would seem so; and if their new single ‘Bad Dreams’ is anything to go by, the quintet is just getting started.
What we appreciate more from The Underclass, is their guitar matter, boasting eclectic, spacious and shoegaze-inspired tones. This allows their music to take on a more alternative route, helping their peculiar identity stand out from the mass. ‘Bad Dreams’ follows the same trend, balancing rocky, punchy moments against pensive and ethereal segments. Vocals are extremely on point, floating on top of the instrumental with charming confidence.
A fantastic offering by The Underclass. Give them a chance, you won’t regret it.
