Now, not to brag or anything, but I’ve been following the musical project of Achim Hofmeyer for over a year. Better known as To Hell With Tradition, it was his tune ‘Eggshells’ that began my love affair with his music. Today, however, we shall be diving into his brand new album ‘Blind Spots’, and I couldn’t be more excited! It’s the German artist’s fourth full-length concept album in as many years, and it once again serves as proof that he’s a musician unlike any other. Rich in philosophical and spiritual lyricism, entwined in metaphors and allegories, Achim walks that beautiful line between mainstream appeal and the authenticity of indie artistry.
‘The Line’ is track one on ‘Blind Spots’, a bouncy and catchy little number that paints a vivid picture of what lies ahead. ‘Ricochets’ follows in a similar upbeat sonic fashion, and Hofmeyer’s knack for crafting profoundly infectious songs is now in full force.
‘Pebbles’, the third track on the record and the lead single from ‘Blind Spots’, channels the unmistakable vibes of The Strokes. It’s yet another tune that will carve its way into your memory long after your first listen. With nine more songs to explore and absorb, the depth of this album has blown me away!
