Often, music stems from a rather painful or troubled artistic research. After all, isn’t that what art is about? Art expression as a means of self-therapy. Always In Danger knows it well, although for him creativity revealed to be particularly crucial during the recent pandemic, when – unable to make music with others – he had to dive deep into his own artistic universe, travelling through the darkest corner of his consciousness and exiting with a very clear sonic idea. Channelling noisy rock, shoegaze influences and a mathcore attitude, Always in Danges seeks to experiment within the bounds of modern guitar-based aesthetic, pushing for innovation and reckoning.
The results are for everyone to see. The homonym album ‘Always in Danger’ thrives in dark, haunting and gritty textures, oscillating between heavy distortions and ambient textures. Take for instance ‘Glow’, a completely austere composition, built over a scary and creepy soundscape. Fear not, the following gem ‘Critical Mass’ take the listeners back into rocky territories, also incorporating synth arpeggios and a charming piano line.
Going forward, the script is the same, the intensity remains high and Always in Danger gets his celebration, in the form of a wonderful and listen-worthy album.
